There are as many reasons we love Santaquin as there are people, but here are a few that everyone can relate to...
Santaquin is a growing area. People, like you, enjoy the newer and larger homes and yards at a substantial discount compared to other areas in Utah county. It is sad to say that we complain a little bit if we have to wait 10-20 seconds to turn onto Main Street! But we really enjoy not having a lot of traffic. While Santaquin has a few gas stations and other small businesses, Payson is becoming the spot that large retailers choose to locate. One other reason many of us enjoy Santaquin is the commute. The average commute for the US is 25 minutes. This is about the same for most residents of Santaquin and Payson. However, the major difference is that it is almost all interstate. We don't have to deal with intersections, stop lights, or congested traffic. This makes our commute a relatively peaceful drive where we can mentally prepare for work at the start of the day and unwind from work at the end of the day. We have large households as the average household in Santaquin is 3.90, Payson 3.60 while Provo is 3.24 and the US average is 2.63.
Santaquin has become a preferred place to live for over 10,000 Utah County residents. This is the result of lower land and home prices, large lots, newer homes and wonderful neighbors. Household size is larger than national, state, and surrounding cities. Many people ask, "What is causing the growth?" Well, it isn't jobs. It is the people!!! Santaquin City, the Chamber of Commerce, Santaquin Orchard Days Committee, Rodeo Committee, Santaquin Library, LDS Church, Santaquin Elementary, Orchard Hills Elementary, CS Lewis Academy, Santaquin Recreation, Rowleys Red Barn, Fruit growers and Farmers are all contributing factors that make Santaquin a wonderful place to grow up, raise a family, retire, and be near those we hold dear.
